! WANGANUI, January 30. - A lad named Wilson, coming to Wanganui by th© Auckland express, was jerked from the platform of the train at Porewa,.near Marton, yesterday. He was not missed.by those on. the train. The lad fell heavily on his head and hands, but walked some distance to a house, where he collapsed and became unconscious. Medical aid was sought, and he was subsequently brought to the Wanganui Hospital. Evans, general manager, recalled, again refused to give details of salaries paid to Downie and the mine manager. .The Coroner ruled that the question was irrelevant. INVERCARGILL, January 30. A lad named John Burfoot, aged 16 years, who was run over by a motorcar in the vicinity of Waianawa, yesterday afternoon, died. to-d»y as a result of-the injuries he received. He was riding a bicycle behind a trap, and when coming down an incline ho swerved on the side of the road. Just at that moment a car, driven by George Stone, of Spar Bush, which was travelling in the opnosite direction, crashed into the cyclist, knocking him down and passing over his body. The boy was driven post hasto by Mr Stone to the Southland Hospital. Mr Stone stated that he did not notice the boy riding behind the trap, land he was so closo on to him at the time that it was impossible to avert the accident.
