TO _____ EDITOR OF "THB PRESS." Sir, —I most heartily endorse the suggestion made by your correspondent regarding a match being arrangeu oetween Whitta's team and the Canterbury Australian contingent, including Orchard, with, say, tho Rev*. Bryan-Brown and Messrs Norman and Matthews added. May I suggest, that it be played at Hagley Park on Saturday afternoon, and that a collection be taken tip in aid of providing seats round the oval at Lancaster Park, such 6eats to bo available for Hagley Park when occasions required. Such a match would not only be of interest to all the cricket lovers, but would . make splendid practice for tho Australian match, the players to represent Canterbury in which should be those who played best in this match. I wonld farther stroncly urge that the match be played right out, with no humbugging "innings declared closed" spoiling it. Earnestly hoping that such a' match will be arranged at once, to commence on Saturday next, February 6th. —Yours. «»rc.. LF/ONARD W. BLAKE. January 30th-
