Feeling reference was mad© to the death of Mr Hamilton, director of the Dominion Museum, and to tho valuable work he had dono in the camse of science. The President, in his address, reviewed the transactions of the Institute during the past twelve, months. Regarding Antarctic exploration work, ho stated that if tlio expeditions meet as they ho.wd to meet wit!) tlie tuicc-os they deserve, the Antarctic would soon be one of tho best scientifically explored portions of the earth, and New Zealand problems connected therewith would be within measurable reach of a satisfactory solution. ,_ -i • •_ Tho election of officers resulted m the re-election cf tho President (Dr. Chiltor.i and of the. treasurer (Mr C. A. Ewen), and the Standing Committees. Dr. XV. XV. Hkents (Melbourne) and Professor David (Sydney) wero appointed a .Board of Selectors for the Hector award (geolo.ry). Dr. Benham. Dr. C 3ockayne, and Professor David were appointed selectors for the Hutton award to be made in 1917.
