Tho butter box and cheese era to making industry is developing into tremen-. do us proportions as a result of the dairy industry in Taranaki, and th© extcnsiveness of it is reflected ia the operations of tho Eltham Box Company. Speaking to a reporter, the chairman (Mr Jacob Marx) said that for tho first six months of the season (ending January 3lßt]> the company will havo turned out 10,000 more butter boxes and 39,000 more cheiese crates than for the, similar period last year. Tho boxes despatched .from tho factory were sufficient to hold 900,0001b of dairy produce. "These wero sent* to Taranaki; factories only," added Mr Marx, "which gives.Auckland something to beat." . Tho directors this week paid, a visit to the Taurewa Block of 25,000 acres, near Taumarunui, over which the company has the milling rights. Tho preliminary steps for the laying of several miles of steam tramways wero taken, but it is not anticipated that cutting operations will bo commenced there for several years, until the timber in the Utiku Block is nearly exhausted. /
