• ♦ — SATURDAY, JANUARY 30th. "A numerously signed requisition was presented yesterday to Mr E. A. requcstin™ him to come forward to represent Lyttelton in the Provincial Council. We understand Mr Hargreares consented, and will shortly issue his address to the electors." ''Jamas MeCosker was brought up before the Resident Magistrate.y esterday, charged with stealing the contents of the bottle placed under the foundation stone of the new Wesleyan Chapel in Durham street. The stone was laid on Thursday by his Honour the Superintendent, and in a bottle under it were placed some papers, coin. etc. It was with stealing this bottle that the. prisoner was charged. He pleaded guilty, and "Was sentenced to two months' imprisonment in Lyttelton goal."
