GREENDALE.

The recent hot weather has had the effect of rapidly ripening the crops, and reaping is now proceeding apace. Some excellent crops aro to be seen throughout the district, and the yield should be quite up to tho average. A few small lots have been stook-threshed, but not enough to givo any idea as to the probable yields for the district; but should the weather continue fine for the next week some returns will bo available. Potato crops are looking well, although in some cases tho land has set down very hard in some crops, as a result of the heavy rains of a few weeks ago, which will prove detrimental to thoigrowth of the tubers.
