MEETINGS AND SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

The quarterly meeting of the United Friendly Societies Benevolent Association was held in the Gloucester street.Chambers, the president, Bro. Hean, presiding over 28 delegates. Letters of thanks were received from tho Loyal Addington and Loyal Rio carton Lodges, M.U., 1.0.0. F., for grants made by the Association for the assistance of distressed brothers. A letter "was received from the Hibernian Society, H.A.C.8.5., endoein £11 £3 6d towards tho appeal made by. the Association. The Oak of Sydenham, U.A.0.D., forwarded correspondence stating that their Lodge had resolved' that they were prepared to consider an increased levy pio rata. per Lodge affiliated. - 'jjho meeting resolved that the question of increased levy, come up fdr consideration after the appeal had been disposed of. The president reported receipts to date towards tho appeal as \£s3 12s '3d. The eecretery, Bro. W. H. tSrovrne, presented to the Association, on behalf of the North Canterbury M.U.. 1.0.0. F., a handsome framed photograph of the executive officers holding office during the year 1912-13. The. President, on behalf of the Association, accepted the gift, end thanked Bro. Field Hospitaland Bearer Corps, was held last. evening, for the jpurpose of forming an Ex-members' Association. It was decided to form an Association of ex-mem-bers and honorary Territorials attached to the company, with tho object of. stimulating interest in the company. A snb-eommittee, consisting of Me-pflre 3kf«lhuish, Harper, Morgan. Rogers, and McKinnev, was set up to formulate rules. Mr C. 11. Burson was elected secretary and treasurer. • ' •
