EXHIBITION DOG SHOW.
: (SPECIAL TO "THE PKESS.") AUCKLAND, January 29. The Exhibition Dog Show was a great miccess. There was a large entry i-onsisting- of 350 dogs, including - a lot o£ now faces. Quite a number of new importations made their debut-at this Show, including Mr G. Lewis c recently-imported sablo Pomeranian dog, Offloy Sablo Mite, who, not only won in all his classes, but secured a specinl tor the best Pomeranian, the lady's gold bracelet for toy dogs, and also a. gold medal for the best dog in the Show, any breed. The Jad/s bracelet for 'Spaniels, _Setters, Hounds, Pointers, Retrievers, Borzois, .uarriera, Beagles, and Great Danes was won by H E. Year's well-known champion Borzoi Whiro Wolf. The lady's bracelet for Terriers, Bulldogs, Collies, and. sheep dogs was won by G. R. Hutchinson jun. s imported smooth Fox Terrier dog Brynber Bill. Greyhounds were not co strong a class.as is usually seen in the North Island. ■ An exceptional fine lot of English Setters were benched, and some good classee of Pointer. Collies w*»c rather poor. Black Cocker Spaniels were good, but there was not much competition in tho coloured classes. Bulldogs wero one of tho best supported classes in the Show, but nothing sensational made its debut. In the new faces, tho most promising, perhaps, is a dog pup exhibited by E. C. Cutts, of "Wellington, which is a eon of the local champion Amherst Baron, owned by P. Hickinbottom. There was a nice entry of Airedales, H. J. Power's Lintern /-f Qucenbury, a local bitch, winning the special for bc3t Airedale in the Show. Some Chriefc church dogs did not fulfil iheir engagements. Fox Terriers were a hot lot, and many good youngsters wero benched. Here the imported dog Brynber Bill was Jefeilcd hy C L. Thomas's New Zealand-bTed dog Cocaine of Scinde. Irish Terriers were a good class. J. White, of Sydney, benched a real good bitch in this variety in Roscrea Ranger. The cream of the Pomeranians were a quartet from Mrs G. Lewis's fennel, meJrdinjr the two imported dog 3 Offley Sable Mite and the champion Avonor Sable Buffie, also two Home-bred ones. The fawn Pugs were rather a mixed lot. There was nothing in the Black Pugs except J. White'e imported pair, Oh* Dusky and Oh Betty.
