THE TOWN HALL SITE.
TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PRESS." Sir, —Again this subject is brought under notice by your correspondent, "One Willing to Add His Quota." I am sorry to differ from him. I submit that no other consideration should militate against the end which wo wish to attain, viz., the adornment of our beautiful town. The Beautifying Society of Christchurch has done much to earn the sincere thanks of the citizens; they can now fittingly crown their work by using their influence in the direction of beauty. I draw their attention to the fact that the beauty of Victoria square is sadly marred by the existenco of an ugly rod brick terrace facing the river at the north. The Town Hall should displace it. lam willing to do my part in this way- "When all the necessary evidence is obtained, as to the probable sum of money required, I will make one, with others, to canvass the rich man to aid in carrying out the object.—Yours, etc., RATEPAYER.
