MANAMA EXPOSITION.
REPRESENTATION OF NEW '. ZEALAND. (special to "the press.'") WELLINGTON, January 28. Tho Secretary of Agriculture, Industries and Commerce (Mr F. S. Pope) has sent the -following circular letter Ito presidents of Chambers . of Commerce, industrial associations, agricultural and pastoral societies, and- other bodies likely to bo interested:—'"l have tho honour, by direction of tho Prime Minister', to inform you that the Government proposes to expend a sufficient sum in exhibiting the primary products and manufactures of this Donwnion at the Panama Exposition, which ia to be held in San Francisco next year. Tho Right "Hon. Mr Massey will be very pleased to hear that producers and manufacturers are willing to assist by'arranging for space at the Exposition, or in any other way that may appear desirable. In order that matters may be advanced as far as possible in America, Mr E. Clifton, Director of the Fields and Experimental Farms Division of this Department, has been appointed Commissioner for the Exposition, as well as trade representative for tho Dominion on the West Coast of Canada. Mr Clifton is now on his way to San Francisco. To onablo tho people of New Zealand to take an interest in the Exposition, which, in view of tho recent tariff alterations in America,'Mr Massey regards, as of great importanco to the Dominion at the present time, ho is desirous of seeing a Central Committee for the Exposition set up in "Wellington, and Advisory' Committees in the other principal cities. Should you havo any suggestion to make in this connexion, Mr Massey would be glad to hear from you as early as possible. A.s no doubt you are aware, tho Exposition opens in February, 1915. Tho method of exhibiting is somewhat different from former international exhibitions, inasmuch as exhibits from particular countries are not housed in senarato courts, but aro exhibited side by side with articles of a similar nature from all countries. There will, .however, be a New Zealand executive building., where samples of the principal products of the Dominion will bo exhibited. The Commissioner at the Exposition will be provided with an ample staff, which will be able to take care of, and to explain, private exhibits in those cases in which exhibitors do not propose to havo their own representatives in attendance."
