The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, Ltd., have opened an Cilice locally under the charge of Mr James Findlay, of their London (head) office. The functions of the new New Zealand branch aro to be clearly administrative, being concerned chiefly with tho arrangement of Homeward cargo, bookings, nnd the allocation of tonnage for the various New Zealand poTts which are served by th« steamers of the line. It is understood that this new departure doos not affect the status of tlie company "n agents here, or at other ports, who will continue to fulfil thedr executive functions as hitherto.
