A very enjoyable afternoon wasspent by a large number of the rw . dents of tho Glen tunnel district " ott Saturday afternoon, when Mr and Mr* John Deans entertained past sna prosent employees of the Homebuai Coal Mine and Pottery Works, witb their wives and families, at a garde* - party, in their beautiful grounds" ay Kirkstvle, Coalgate. The party numbered about two hundred.- .IB*» weather was all that could be desired, and thoso present found ample cnt f*~ tainment in wandering abo**** ,tne grounds.and taking part in theJ* ari T* * games. A programme of sports _jor - children and adults was gone thropshj and most of tho youngsters re tuni " homo with toys. Afternoon tea rat* also handed round. Before the ip™**/ ing dispersed Mr Charles Stuart on be- t half of thoso present, thanked Mr and - Mrs Deans for tho exceedingly P*«*"J* afternoon's entertainment that wey had provided.
