(rr.ESS ASSOCIATION- TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, January 26. The Ross Goldfie.ds mine manager reports as follows for the week ended 22nd inst.:—"Sixth level, No. 2 shoot—No. 1 south drive has been re-started for tho purpose of extending it a further distance of 40 feet before sinking tho proposed Monkey shaft. Thia should bo started during next week. This drive is now 192 ft from tho shoot, and is carrying no gold. It is being driven in the bottom underneath a layer of wash-dirt worked by Cassius No. 2. South drive has been extended to BSft in low grade wash, No. 3 south to 9Sft in low grade and the north drive has been driven to 9Cft from the opening and stopped, wash of medium quality. No. 1 West drive has been been driven to GOft, with at times fair prospects. Casnus workings:—East drive on the south side has been driven to 150 ft in wash of low value. Heavy rain nii'ht caused much percolation of water through the Ca?ahi.» working?, nnd all underground work hr-d to be suspended temporarily. The pump?, however, respond satisfactorily to the increased load."
