AN ASSAULT CASE.

(PRESS ASSOCIATION* TELEfiRAJI.) AUCKLAND, January 26. At tho Onchunga Court to-day. John James Boyd, proprietor of the Zoo, brought a charge of assault and causing actual bodily harm against his son, Edward Boyd. At the suggestion of tho police tho charge was reduced to ono of common assault. Defendant, who pleaded guilty, explained that ho had words with his father about work. Though not intemperate, be had some drink on tho night of tho assault and did not remember what occurred. He had since taken out a prohibition order against himself. Mr Fraser, S.M., said that since it was a family quarrel and the father had not been injured to any extent, the caso would be settled by defendant being bound over to keep the peace for twelve months, ■ and pay Court costs, under a surety of £100.
