(riIESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.* WELLINGTON', January 24. The Wellington Racing Ciub concluded its Summer Meeting to-day in fmo weather, nnd there was a good attendance r -i the public. The fields Tvero again large, and the racing good. The cum of £37,689 was put through the totalisatnr, ac against .£35,862 for the corresponding day last year, making a total of £106,339 for the meeting as compared with £100,137 for the previous surnm-er fixture. A beautiful start was effected, but after poing fifty yards Immer was chopped out and dropped imck last, where she remained throughout. Byron took up the running going out 01 the "straiprht, but was soon passed by Eniperador and Tiinnhnuser. Byron then took third place, with Odessa, Bronze, Sir Knox, Birkline. :tnd Immer following in that order. Very little, change took place going along the back stretch, but nearing the six fur'.ongs pest Odessa ran into second place, and wiis followed by Tannbauser, Sir Knox, and iJyron. As they raced to the homo turn. Kinpcrador was still in charge from Tannhauser, on the inside, and Sir Knox on tho outer. The result looked to bo be- j tween the three, but Birklino, who had dropped back to nearly lust at ihe- half mile post, put in a. terrific run on the outside, and won by a lenith; a head separating second" and 'third.
