At the aunual meeting of tho Temuka Storage Company, Ltd., held on Friday, the directors reported that the net profit for tho year ending 28th February, 1913 (tho meeting being ten months behind time), was £316 17s lid, which, with the balance from the previous year, left £373 11s 9d, which it was proposed to apportion as follows: —Write down plant account by £23 11s Odj and building account by £50.. and carry forward the balance £300. The directors decided to dispense with the winter Ingleside, and to concentrate their efforts upon the plain and fancy dress ball, to be held this year on tne 9th July, members to he admitted free. A letter was received from Mr W. Kilgour.. St: Kilda, Dunedin, urging tho Society to insist upon girls and boys dancing in the classes allotted to them, and to prohibit them from competing with men in the dancing. He also urged further i encouragement of boys, U> whom the societies had to look for their support in future years. Owing to the girls competing with boys in the dancing, and winning tho prizes, the entries from boys wore falling off. Mr Kilgour offered prizes of £1 and 10s for a Highland Fling at the next gathering, the evont to be open to boys only. The Temuka Borough Council, with tho view of securing a reduction in the insuranco rates ruling the borough, has decided to ask the Underwriters' Association to send their superintendent down for another test of tho water servico and tho Fire Brigade. On the last occasion the superintendent reported adversely on the brigade muster, and upon the smallness of tho pressure. The Council, however, is certain that tlie improvement of tho new high pressure system over the old well system, and the enlargement of tho brigade's membership and the improvement of appliances warrant sonic reduction in the ratesThe ratepayers were inferentially promised this insurance rate reduction, as an inducement to go in for the £11,C00 water scheme, by its advocates. _^___
