SLAUGHTERMEN GET BIG INCREASE.
SYDNEY, January 24. After an interview with the Industrial Registrar, the carcase butchers granted the slaughtermen's demands tor an increase from £4 5s to £6 per week. The butchers declare that unless the men's unreasonable demands cease, the public will have to pay a halfpenny to a penny per pound more for meat, and the- pastoralist take less for his cattie. The Victorian slaughtermen have also been conceded an increase as the result of a conference.
