BOROUGH COUNCILS.
WOOLSTON. The Woolston Borough Council met last evening. Present —The Mayor (Mr J. J. Graham) and Crs. M. L. Gimblett, L. Hart, G. Lilley, T. Radcliffe, F. Newton, W. Maclaine, L. Hardie, and M. Dalzdel. Tho financial statement showed that the receipte for the past fortnight were £2-18 19s 7d. Tho Works Committee recommended, in regard to the extension of Bell's Creek bridge, that tho matter be held over till the estimates for 1914 were being framed. The Woolston Swimming Club was granted permission to erect notice boards on the batlis. Mr Parish, secretary of the Woolston Tennis Club, waited on the Council in connexion with the club's request to agree to the erection of a wire dividing fence between the domain and the courts. Hβ explained that the most suitable fence would be one of wire netting, 12ft high, tho estimated cost of the material being £3 10s. It was decided to agree to tho erection of the fence as proposed. Tho Council went into committee to diccues a motion that one of their two drivers, a non-unionist, must join the old drivers' union, and not the new one. On coming out of committee a resolution was carried to that effect. On the motion of the Mayor it was decided that a letter be sent to the Government asking when it would be prepared to hold the conference regarding the supplying o£ local bodice with electric power.
