HARBOUR BOARDS.
Several amendments of importance are included in the Harbours Act Amendment Bill, which was circulated this evening. It is provided that candidates for election must deposit at nomination the sum of £3, which is forfeit if one-eighth of the votes polled by the successful candidate is not secured. It is provided that a Board may by resolution, when all members :iro present, decide to pay any or all of its members a special allowance of CI Is for each day's attendance at meetings of the Board (in addition to -■xpenses), at committee meetings, or ■>n any authorised business of the Board. A great many minor amendments are also made, included in which s one which permits the Board to T, ?ase warehouses for seven years intoed of three, as at present.
