TARANAKI OILFIELDS.
(special to "tiie γ-ress.'.') . NEW PLYMOUTH, December 8. In connexion with the oil mince at New Plymouth, good progress hae been made with the rotary, drill on the Taranakf Oil We'Ls, Ltd., property, a depth of 2120 f«t having been reached. This is within about 100 feet pf the depth at which oil was struck in No. 5 bore. No. 5 bore has been flowing , very consistently during the week and is now cleared of silt. No. 3 bore is flowing as usual. During the week some 12,000 gallons of kerosene burning oil and benzine have been .shipped to various ports from the refinery. Sample tins of wax have a'ao been despatched to consignees who are anxious to test- its qualities. A further seven- tone are ready for shipment. The melting point of the wax now turned out is 145deg. This is in itself sufficient evidence as to its quality. The Bonithon - Co.'s bore/hae mode good progress during the week. It reached a depth of 2500 feet on Saturday. The hard formation continues, but the indications are promising.
