NORMAL CONDITIONS.

All, outward indications point to things generally having reached normal conditions in Christchurch. All business activities are being carried on as usual. , The secretary of the New Zealand Federated Boot Trades' Union (Mr G. R. Whiting) has forwarded the following letter to the Prime Minister (Hon. W. F. Massey)':— "I have the honour, by direction of the above Federation, to. forward you the following resolution, carried unanimously at our monthly meeting on Tuesday last: —"The New Zealand Federated Boot Trades' Union would respectfully submit that the suffering, loss, and inconvenience experienced for the past month, and still existing amongst business people, the general public and large sections.of the workers, non-partisans in the present industrial crisis, is" in itself sufficient reason for tho Government to immediately take action and insist on the proposal to appoint his Honour Sir Joshua Williams to arbitrate on' the dispute,, be given effect to forthwith.' " THE STRIKERS , CAMP. Conflicting feporte are current reeardmg the conduct of some of the men in the strikers' camp. It is complained that last Friday between. 11 p.m. and midnight two or three men, who are said to belong to the camp, wakened residents of Brett's road with the noise they made, and the strong language they were .using. One resident got up and told the men to go away, but instead of doing so they indulged in even stronger language. On the other liand, Mr C. J. Cooper informed a reporter that with Mr J. A. Frostiek he visited the camp on. Saturday night, and found everything exemplary. Discipline was being maintained, everything was orderly, the camp was tidy, and tho men well-behaved. OLD DRIVERS' UNION MEETS. A meeting of the Drivers' Union was held yesterday morning to makft arrangements to visit tho strikers' «;an>n. with members of the Lyttelton' Waterside Workers' Union, j P , ra '> mc appomt- * t_ * *° a ' sser hie in iront of the Socialist Hall, there was but a sparse attendance, and not much intercut was shown in the affair. GARDENERS' UNION. At a meeting of the Christchurch Gardeners' Union; the following motion was adopted:—"That this summoned meeting of the Gardeners' Union desire to place on record their disgust at tho action of the Government in breaking the laws of tho country for the sake of assisting a few wealthy men, instead of administering the laws impartially as they find them on tho Statute Book. Further, that as believers in arbitration and registered under the Act, we consider it contemptible that the bogus unions now being formed by a few unprincipled employees should be allowed to register under the Arbitration Act. and that on no account will this union recognise siich as genuine unions." MEETING OF BUSINESS MEN. The Mayor stated at the meeting of the City Council last night that he had received an invitation from Bishop Julius to attend a meeting of leading business men, to discuss tho question of the present unrest in the Labour world.
