WORK PROCEEDS STEADILY.
Despite the departure during tho week-end of the liners Corinthio and Rehiuera, the wharves yesterday looked as busy as ever, no fewer than # eighteen vessels being engaged in loading and unloading. The vessels worked were the Kittawa, Opouri, Hercules, Titania, Stnrmfels, Canopus, Kowhai, Flora, Pateena, Karamu, Lily, Eunice, Eliza Firth, Annie Hill, Aratapu, Kaitangata,. Wakatu, and Himitangi, and the amount of cargo handled by the arbitrationists was considerable. OPOURI ARRIVES. In ordinary times Monday is a quiet day, there being no ferry steamer arriving from ""-Yellington and inward • raovoments generally being few. Yesterday was no exception, tho only arrival being the steamer Opouri from Nydia Bay. The vessel discharged hor cargo of timber during the day, and after replenishing her bunkers sailed in the ovening for Timaru, from which port she will return to Lytteiton on Thursday, to load for Wellington and New Plymouth. KAITAN-GATA AND BAINBRIDGE BERTHED! . The last of the fleet which had been at anchor in the stream were berthed yesterday morning. Tho Union Company's collier Kaitangata, which had boon lying idle in the outer harbour for some weeks, lifted her anchor at an early hour, and after being berthed commenced to discharge her cargo of Newcastle coal. She was followed later by tho American four-masted schooner Bainbridgo, which arrived on Friday afternoon laden with a cargo of Oregon pine from Puget Sound. The vessel, which took the berth vacated by the departure on Sunday of the cruiser Pyramus, will commence discharging operations probably to-day. MOVEMENTS OF COASTAL STEA-MERS. The little steamer Wootton is due today from Picton to load produce for Wellington, the Kairaki being also duo from Hokitika with a cargo of-timber, upon completing the discharge of which she will load for New Plymouth and Foxton, leaving for thoso ports on Thursday. The Wakatu sailed last night for Kaikoura and Wellington, heavily laden with produce. The" Himitangi, which arrived on Sunday evening from Wellington, commenced .work early in the morning, and was" a full ship when she sailed on her return to the northern port last night. On Wednesday the Kaiapoi will leave Dunedin for Timaru and Wellington, from the latter port coming back to Lytteiton, whence after loading she will proceed to Auckland. The Pukaki will leave Wellington for Lytteiton tomorrow, and is due on Thursday to load for the south. The Cygnet, which left Lytteiton last Saturday for Kaikonra, instead of returning ns usual to the port, proceeded to-Wellington to load a large quantity of material for cheese boxes. The vessel will go to Akaroa direct
from the north to discharge, and is due back at Lyttelton either to-morrow or tho following day.
LILY FOR OVERHAUL.
The schooner Lily, having completed discharging her cargo of timber from Greymouth, will be placed upon the Lyttelton. patent slip to-day for overhaul.
