ALARM IN CANADA.
STRAIGHTFORWARD EXCLUSION
POLICY DEMANDED,
("Tunee"-Sydney "Sun" Special Cabl*.) OTTAWA, December 7. Forty Hindoos who have arrived in British Columbia are held for deportation despite the decision of the Supreme Court.
Reports received in Canada chow that large numbers of Hindoos are awaiting the action of the Dominion Government before leaving India.
Public bodies in British Columbia are urging the Government at Ottawa to enact 6tringent laws to stop the influx.
The agitation for the enforcement of the unrecognised clause in the Immigration Act, authorising the Federal Government to exclude undesirables, has been strengthened by the publication of official figures showing that Chinese are pouring in at the rate of six hundred a month, despite the five hundreddollar poll tax. The oxclusionists demand a straightforward exclusion policy.
