MR McCOMBS AND THE STRIKERS' CAMP.
"Grateful" writes:—lt is not generally understood that the land upon which tnoetrikers' camp, in May's road, iS situated is a block held by a land syndicate for speculative purposes, <-f which Mr McCombs is a prominent member. No doubt Mr Mcpombs's influence with his brother capitalists has secured the temporary use of the laud for the Fcderationists, while the unearred increment is accumulating, but I think it is only fair to point out that evidently all capitalists are not opposed to the strikers; • - At the "rally" in Victoria equare, on Saturday night, the chairman (Mr Hiram Hunter),, referring to .the strikers - * camp, said that the paddock on which the camp had been established, was kindly provided by Mr McCombs.
