AN EXPLANATION. (FBESS AWneutlON TEtWSRiM.) INVERCAEGILL, December 7. Tho local branch of the Employers' Association hns been informed that reports have appeared in some northern newspapers that the branch telegraphed direct to tho Prime Minister (the Hon. W F. Massey) urging tho adoption of Mr Hughes's suggestion for arbitration by Sir Joshna Williams. The official statement is that nny reports published are quite unauthorised; that no telegram whatever was sent by the branch to the Prime Minister; that the branch has done nothing whatever to suggest loss of confidence in the executive of the Employers' Federation; on the contrary, tiip branch has entire confidence in tho executive, and is quite prepared to leavo thf> manngement of strike questions in their hands.
