HORORATA RACING CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual meeting of the Hororata Racing Club was held on Saturday in glorious weather. A lair number of enthusiasts journeyed from Chribtchurch by the special train, but many travelled by motor-car, while the country fo:k turned out in stiong lotoe. Blythcboy and Star Blue at once went off in the lead, and this pair had the race to themselves. In ft good finish tho judge was unable to separate the pair, whilo Black Jack, who finiehcxl fast, was half a dozen lengths behind the leaders. Pukerau was fourth. Time, lmin 4&ec. Emerson.) ; A struggling start was effected, Kireyle refusing to gallop, and Respond was bad.y left, while Forest Belle at once went off in the lead, clceely attended by Judith. Forest Belle easily held her own in the run to the poet, and won comfortably by a length and a hxilf. while Respond, who put in a good run over the last furlong, was several lengths away third. Gnome at once took up tho lead, closely attended by Gtonfin,- Ovar, and Joan, with Chryaotia -running last. Chrysotis mado a good run along , -the back stretch, but Gnome and Joan led round the far turn and into the straight, while Counsel materially improved hie position. At tho entrance to the straight Gnome and Joan ran a trifle wide, and Counsel slipped tip on tho rai'.o. In an interesting finish the Vasco gelding held his own, and won by a length from Gnome, who was half a, length in front of Joan. Gold Coin was fourth, and Chrysotie fifth. Time, 2min llscc.
