THE MAYOR'S OBSERVATIONS. "If it were not for tho special constables about the wharf frontage," said tho Mayor (Mr H. Holland), who returned on Saturday from a visit to Auckland, "there is very little to indicate that there is a strike on at either Auckland or Wellington. There are some vessels in the stream at Auckland, but these represent accumulations that took place when the port was closed. In Wellington they have cot the stream practically cleared. Speaking to men in authority in both cities, it is generally conceded that the strike is over in both places. ,.
