No doubt it was owing to lack of space in your columns, but, unfortunately, it practically spoilt the whole substance of the letter. A newspaper controversy will evidently be of very little benefit to us. so we have decided to offer the following suggestions to "Ratepayer," "Ratepayer No. 2," and Hiccarton Property Owner":—. (1) That they disclose their identity so that your readers and ourselves will be in a position to judge the value of their criticisms.
