TO THE EDITOR OP "THE PEESB." Sir, —Wβ wish to protest against the manner in wjbich you condensed Mr G. D. White's letter in his reply to'ltatepayer." No doubt it was owing to lack of space in your columns, but, unfortunately, it practically spoilt the whole substance of the letter. A newspaper controversy will evidently be of very little benefit to us. so we have decided to offer the following suggestions to "Ratepayer," "Ratepayer No. 2," and Hiccarton Property Owner":—. (1) That they disclose their identity so that your readers and ourselves will be in a position to judge the value of their criticisms.
