They obtained no support froi the Government, and were acting o their own initiative altogether, an bore-'the consequences thereof, obtaii ing no protection whatsoever. Als< they only' carried out .the. necessai work of the town and municipality, an did not do any other work whntsoeyei They were allowed fa' license to can revolvers for their own protection, bu had no special authority to use thei to carry on their work.
