TWENTY-FIVE LIVES LOST. MANY LEAP FOR SAFETY. (By Cable.—Press NEW YORK. "December 3. A firo destroyed a lodging-house in the south end of Boston. A number of men jumped into lifenets and were saved. One, a Swede, leaped from the top storey, wrapped in a mattress, and escaped with scratch—3. After the fire had been extinguished twenty-five dead Bodies were recovered in a charred state. Several ambulance loads of those injured were conveyed to the hospital. (Received December 4th, 11.35 p.m.) NEW YORK, December 4. The cause of the lodging-house fir© has not been discovered. An investigation has been started, with the object of ascertaining if the house was overcrowded. The injured are recovering, and thero have been no further deaths.
