ADVANCES TO' SETTLERS

NEW ZEALAND SYSTEM PRAISED. ADOPTION BY BRITISH COLUMBIA URGED. (By Cable.—Press Association.—•Copyrijht.) VANCOUVER, December 2. In officially' reporting the results of tbe Agricultural Con-mission's visit to New Zealand and Australia, Mr Alexander Lucas, British Columbia's Special Commissioner, states:— "New Zealand's system of aiding fanners is well-nigh perfect. New Zealand consequently leads the world in her output of domestic products."

As British Columbia strongly resembles New .Zealand, Mr Lucas recommendthat a similar system be adopted here. The State Governments' aid to agriculture in Australia is.also strongly recommended -as useful, with suitable modifications to meet the conditions of British Columbia.
