ALLEGES SHEEP STEALING.

ACCUSED COMMITTED FOR TRIAL. At the Magistrate's Court.yesterday, before Messrs W. Barrett and H. Andrews, J.P.s, Heiberi Jarvis was charged with, on or about November Ist, at YaKhurst, stealing two sheep? valued at £2 2s, tho property of William F. Conway; Mr Edgar appeared for accused. Conway said Be had identified two of the shpep fnuml on accused's property as his. He them at £1 Is each. Ho had sold no sheep to the accused. Evidenoe for the Crown was also given by Finlay Mackenzie, Thos. Gibson, and Charles E. Johnston. Accused was also charged with, nt Yaldburst, between September 25th and November 20th, stealing thirtyfour sheen, valued at £!J4, the property of James Gregory Hunt. Hunt said that as the result of a visit to accused's place by Deter*t : ve G'bson and Messrs Maginncss, Johnston, Langdale, and himself, they had found twenty-eight shorn and five woolly sheep' (one partly shorn) belonging to him. He had no doubt about the shorn sheep. Thero could bo no doubt about the woolly sheep. Evidence was also given by C E. Johnston, F. Mackenzie C. MasinTiess, W. J. Longdalc, and Thomas Gibson. Accused, who r-leaded not guilty, and reserved his defence, was committee! for trial, bail being allowed, self in £50, and ono surety of £50.
