; ," — * i» I As Mrs Busch, of Glenroy, and her „"" daughter were leaving Glentunnel in a trap yesterday afternoon, tbo horse took fright at a heap of poles lying by the side of the road. The trap struck - ' the side of a small bridge, and tho oe- - ',< cupants were thrown out. Mrs Bosch - * received a severe shaking, and Miss Busch was somewhat severely bruised about the chest. Duncan McCallum, aged about 35,. grain and produce merchant of Blenheim, was found dead at his home at Springlands yesterday evening. Thcircumstanres point to suicide. A sho* gun was found with a strap tied to th.trigger, and fastened to a stove. Evi dently deceased placed tho gun barr.-" in his mouth and pulled it towards him thus discharging the weapon. Hif head was shattered. His wife and child wero on a visit to Nelson at the time.
