NEW ZEALAND TROTTING ASSOCIATION.
A meeting cf tbe New Zealand Trotting Association was held yesterday afternoon. Present—Messrs P. Selig (preeidcnt), W. E. Simes, W. H. Denton, C. S. HowoU, W. Haywaxd, A. L. Myers, and H. F. Nicoll. An apology for absence was received from Mr J. H. Pollock.
It wfta decided to request Mr Jesse Steer, of Greymouth, to act as advisory steward for the trotting events at the Westland B.C.'a Midsummer Meeting.
Mr Simes reported that he had bees asked by the Hororata Racing Club to act as advisory steward at that club's meet ing on Saturday next, and had' agreed to do oa in an honorary capacity. He had since received a letter from the cub asking that application should be mado to the Association to »__*-_ tbo appointment.
It was agreed that Mr Simes should be appointed honorary advisory steward for the Hororata Meeting. The New Brighton Trotting Club was granted permis-iott to include a match over a mile between Emmelino and L-.e.ock for a purse of 75 eovs in the programme of its Summer Meeting on December 13th. ?ir S.mes elated that ho had to make application for the removal of the disqualification, of two horses, which he had nominated for the New Biightoa Derby without having previously registered them. He would like to explain that this was » race to take place six months hence, and at the* time he had a doubt as to whether tho Ttt-'ea regarding regjatratioa applied to a Derby cr Futurity race. He had tha forma filled in and raady to bo lodged, except that _or one a certificate from the Examiner of Foreign Horses was necessary. Under tbe rule* the hones were automatically disqualified, and he made- formal application for the raoval of the disqualification. decided to call upon him to show cans* why h* should not be disqualified under the ru» dealing with co:xupt practices, and to mforoi him that be would be permitted to appear before tho 3card if he wished. It was reported that J. Sutherland, whose spplication for a license had been held over pending an explanation as to why he had not filled in the form correctly, had in the meantime won both trottins? events at tbe Springfied Racing Club's Meeting oa November 22nd with his mare Miss Rita. The Springfield Club had in consequence been instructed to impound the stakes. It was decided that Miss Rita was ineligible to receive tho st_.kca won by her, and that the Springs, d Hack Racing Club should be instructed tc pay th-s stakes over to tb* ho:sos that finished second and -third, and also that J. Sutherland should be fined __.. The Licensing Co-»tu..t-<j recommended that applications for a cumber of licenses be granted; that Wm. Grant's application be granted for three months frcm January Ist, 19H; those of John Wad, John Sutherland, and E. O'Brien bo held over, and that of JW. Frascr be reiuscd. The Forb_ry Park T.C. having advised that its letter of May 23rd, 1910, i.gading the caution to W. T. Hazlett wa3 nrong, his app .cation, which had been held in abeyance? was granted. In connexion with this caso tho committee desired to m.ntion specially that any responsibility attaching to the holding over of Mr Hazlett's appl.cation rested entirely with the clnb, and not tha Association. As requested by the Board, two holders of licenses were called beforo tho committee regarding their conduct, both on and off courses. The committee recommended that the sum of XlO be voted to J. Finlayson in respect of his accident.
The report was adopted. Programmes as pasted by the Executive were approved.
On tho recommendation of the Foreign Horse Committee a certificate was issued for Losse.
