At the meeting of the Tramway;En> ployees' Union last night it waa-re-ported by the permanent way employees that they had been cailod upon to work with carters who had disobeyed th« mandato of the Drivers' Union, and thai . they strongly objected to work witl theso carters. r A deputation wa* Appointed- to wait on the oi the tramways to-day to see if something could not be done to remove the causeof friction. It was suggested that the Tramway Board should purchase horses acid tlrays of ite own, and that the drivers should come within the scope of the Tramway Employees , Union. . EMPLOYERS DETERMINEDA representative of "The Press" saw Mr S. Luttrell, of Messrs Lattrell Brothers yesterday, and enquired what I effect the strike of drivers was having upon the different contract* the firm have in hand? Mr Luttrell said that some of the men employed on their contracts were thrown out of work owing to the dislocation caused by the first strike called by the Drivers' * Union, and bo was determined that his firm would not allow Mr Hunter's second effort to affect them in any way. They had started yesterday building a third etorey ■ on Warner's Hotel,'and,'no # matter what happened, the work was going to be continued uninterruptedly. Mr Luttrell added that ho was of opinion that tho workers of the Dominion would eventually adopt a platform making strikes impossible, and when that day arrived it would bo tho foundation of better conditions for tho workers. THE ADDIXGTON CAMP. Yesterday everything was going on I very smoothly at the Addington. camp, and the usual camp." routine was being carried out without I hitches of any kind. only ' mounted special constables in camp. Some of those who were amongst the earliest to join camp have returned to their homes, their, places having been taken by other mounted special constables. There are etill a number of foot special constables at Lyttelton, in addition to tho mounteds.
