The general tranquility established by tho enrolment of special constables is now considered such as to warrant the disbanding of tho foot "specials," but an adequate force of mounted mon will be maintained for the time being at the Addington camp. Peaceful conditions continue in the cities and ports. The Lyttelton hotels are to be ro-oponod to-day. The call of the Drivers' Union for another strike of drivers met with very little response. Tho strike leaders who were called upon in connexion with the application for leave to prosecute the Strike Committee for the publication of defamatory matter in the "Strike Bulletin" denied all knowledge of the article complained of. Tho now union of drivers has completed registration. In Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin conditions are practically normal. Two large cargoes of coal from Calcutta aro on the way to New Zealand. This is in addition to supplies soon to arrive from South Africa. Tho Sydney waterside workers have decided to refuse to handle cargo to or from Now Zealand, but the Union Company's Australian coastal trado will not be interfered with.
