ANNUAL MEETING-.

The- annual general meeting of the Girls' Friendly Society \v;is held yustorday, the liev. H. U. Mathias presiding. A proposal from the Government had been accepted, viz., th;it in r< turn fer a subsidy of £150, to be p.iid to the governing body of the G.F.?>.. each lodge in the four centres shall keep two beds for girls assisted by the Government. Negotiations were in progress with the Government to them to send two girls from their assisted passengers direct to the lodge from each arriving immigrant vessel.
