WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2nd,
"We aro authorised to state that a Government has been formed as follows: —Tho Hon. H. J. Tarcred, President: William Holies ton, Esq., Provincial Secretary; E. F. B. Harston, Esq., Provincial Solicitor; G. A. E. Ross, Esq., and E. C. J- Stevens, Esq., without office." . "The opening of the Lyttelton and Christchurch railway from Christchurcb to Ferrymoad took place yesterday in the presence of some six or seven hundred people The first train out and back contained his Honour the Superintendent, and those connected with the Governments but afterwards the line was thrown open to the public, and all who cared were free to make the trip."
