ANSWERS TO CORRESPONDENTS.

"F-iW-i —The-hand"cou nts twenty—-twelve for fifteens, and eight for pairs. ,

"THE PLAY-BOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD."

TO THE EDITOR OK. "THE PKESB."

Sir,—The case for Ulster could hardly bo put In fewer words than you put it in your very interesting leader note on "The Play-boy of the Western World," in this morning's issue. "The bias towards romance," which according to the late Mr Syngo, whom it is the fashion of tho hour to exalt, finds expression among Mayo peasants in admiration for a lad on the alluring grounds that he professes to have murdered his father— the old haythenl—is precisely what deters the average Ulsterman, loss enthusiastic in temperament, and not oven yet entirely emancipated from tho thraldom of the Ten Commandments, from desiring to see Ulster ruled by the chosen of the Mayo peasant. I have hot read the "Playboy," not" finding the romance of alleged patricide particularly inviting. But if your 'summary is as fair as it appears to be, I can welt' believe that old-fashioned persons like myself would sympathise rather with the unintellectual audiences who have hissed it off the stage than with the psychologically-minded critic who hit off that apt, if rather hapless phrase, "a bias towards romance."—Yours, etc., W. D.. ANDREWS. December 2nd, 1913. '
