CHORAL HALL.

There was a good audience at the Choral Hall last when a concert was given in aid of the V.M.C.A. The programme was an attractive one, and consisted of songs by Mr J. Mac Lean, Miss Stella Murray, and Miss MacNeil; recitals by Mrs J. A. Newell, and pianoforte solos by Dr. Crooke.

Largo crowds wero again attracted yesterday to the studio in Cashel street to witness tho painting '"The Shadow of the Cro*.," which is in its third and last week in Christchurch. Mr Kilpatrick will hold continuous receptions to-day from 1 to 5 o'clock.
