a MRS NELSON SUFFERING FROM THE EFFECTS.
(PRISS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) '" ASHBURTON, November 29. Mr Samuel Nelson, who was in Ashburton this morning, stated ' that he had come in to secure the services of a medical man for his wife, who w_s brutally assaulted at Winslow on Thursday afternoon. Although Mrs Nelson has partly recovered from the assault .he is still suffering from bruise-. She is very nervous, and it is feared that in the struggle her heart was affected. The man was last seen on the North Belt, Ashburton, and passed the Tuarangi Home about.four o'clock the same day, driving fast, and making north. A strict watch-is'being, kept throughout the country. ' Detective Eado arrived in Ashburton this morning, and with a local constable left at once to scouj the oountry between Wakanui and Ncwland, while another local constable is making enauiries in the Chertsey and Winchmo're istricts. The Mothven police are searching that locality, while the Rakaia constable will watch his part of the disA large number of settlers of "Winslow are scouring the country for miles around.
