ICHABOD.
TO T_E BniTOR 07 '"_TB PRESS." Sir, —This.was.'a strange word to mc until yesterday, when I heard the Rev. North's graphic description of how a Hebrew mother with ncr last breath gave this fatal name to her newborn infant, a name which signifies "The glory has departed." This incident occurred at one of those times when Israel fell into sinfnl ways, and retribution came as night follows day* and tho ark was captured: captured after being taken out specially to the tide of defeat. Tho preacher pointed out that in tho history of nations, and in the life of a man, these spiritual waves—these waves which imply that .every depression has a corresponding crest —must be expected, and that whenever mankind has been constrained to write the word Ichabod. there always has been, and ever will be, the swift following crest to maintain tho equilibrium. So out of- the present industrial unrest good will come, and an optimistic feeling that the best is yet to be will help that good time to come alone. "The Lost Chord," most artistic_tfy sting by a lady member of the chcir_ contributed towards a memorable service.—Yours, etc.. PETER TROLOVE.
