(By Cable—Pieea Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, November 28. A renly "has been received from the Imperial Government regarding the proposed Defence Conference. It is understood that though Great .Britain rejects the Commonwealth's proposal to hold a conference in the near future, the reply does not exclude the possibility of a conference at a later period next year. Such a conference, indeed, is now considered likely.
