CASTLES FOR SALE.

THE KAISER RETRENCHING

(By Cxble.—PreM Association.— Copyiigit.) BERLIN, November 26. The Kaiser contemplates selling several castles, his Civil List, though increased in 1910, being insufficient to provide for their upkeep. The Kaiser's Civil List, as King of Prussia, amounts to about £770,000, but he has in addition revenues from enormously large estates. The maintenance of the castles and residences on these, however, is a costly item. Besides these sources of income, he enjoys revenue from the Hohenzollern family fortune. Ho also engages in trade- A few years ago the public was surprised to hear that in spite of his great wealth, the Emperor found it hard to make both ends meet, and his Civil List was increased.
