.The returning officer for the Lyttclton by-election (Mr C. Ferrier) received the writ-from Wellington yesterday morning. The rolls closed at six o'clock on Tuesday night at the Registrar, of, Electors' oflßoe, at;Lyttelton, and, the writ must be returned to^Wellington within 28 days.
