FARMERS' UNION.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE
A meeting of the executive of' the North Canterbury Farmers' Union was held yesterday. There were present: — Messrs C. 11. Ensor (chairman), G. Gardner, G. Sheat, G. W. Holland, F. G. Horrell, J. W. Patchett, T. E. L. Roberts, S. Weld, and A. J. Bell. A letter was read from the Waibari branch of the Farmers' Union suggesting that legislation should be introduced to provide a more equitable system of registration of motor-cars and the licensing of drivers. It was decided to hand the letter to the Automobile Association. The Halket branch advocated a system of card judging, by points, at stock shows, and the suggestion^was forwarded to the A. and P. Societies. Mr Moisey, hon. secretary of the Papanui branch, waited on the executive with regard to the importation of boys for .farm labour. Mr Moisey urged that the executive do all in its power to ask the Government and the High Commissioner to let any boys know exactly what were the conditions under which they were supposed to live and work. It was decided to ask the Minister of Immigration to Bee that the boys wBo were sent out were supplied with all possible information as to the conditions of life in New Zealand.
