The Banks Peninsula A. and P- Association held its fifth annual Show yesterday at Little River, when the weather was beautifully fine till the people were leaving the ground, when ram 6<* in. The Show was held on this occasion in tho Awa Iti Domain, and use was also made of Messrs H. Matson and Co.'s saleyards. kindly lent for the occasion, where the cattle, sheep, and I pigs were penned. The Itomain proved | very suitable for the purpose though j ! most of the arrangements were tempori ary, but the public library made; a good secretary's office and ladies rooms. Tho gate receipts were against £71 Is 6d last year and £85 in 1911, the strike preventing many people from attending. The show of sheep and cattle was disappointing, but the horse and other sections made up to a large extent for the deficiency. SHEEP. A few good English Leicesters were shown by Messrs I. Andrew and the Hon. ll.* H. Rhodes, the former being the most successful exhibitor. Border Leicesters were also good, though tho competition was only between Messrs R. W. Lochhead and W. O. Ronnie, the former gaining most of the awards. There were.no Lincolns or Southdowns. Mrs A. McLachlan was the only exhibitor in Romney Marsh, and Mr I. Andrew in Shropshire and Ryelands, some e;ood sheep beinp shown in each section. In Crossbreds the most successful, exhibitors woro Messrs R.. W. Lochhead, J. F. Buchanan, and H. Lewthwaite.. Only one pen of fat wethers wr.s Font in, these being Mr "R. W. Lofhhend's. and the only lambs wero pets. Phyllis Allen beine, tho winner, and Nellie Patten second. CATTLE. There was very little competition in tho cattle classes. Mr H. Reid was the only exhibitor of calves, Mr A. Chamberlain, of Ellosmere, sent in a few of his Shorthorns, including the bulls Charming Count 2lst and Charming Prince, and several cows and lieifers, and won first awards with each. In Jerseys, the first awards went to Mrs A. McLachlan. and Messrs W. E. Radford. and A. E. Patten, and in Holsteins. Messrs T. H. Ovorton, J; O. Coop, and H. T. Chapman. In pens of he'fers and steers, "Mr J. O. Coop was first and Mr J. Londrigan, sen., won in the class for crossbred cow for rlairving purposes in which there was the largest entry in the section. Two '■earns" of bullocks were entered. Messrs E. and. J. C. Hay's's team, which was in much tho best- condition, was plarcd fvsb. and Mr J. Chapman, sen., second. The bullock-driving comfiptition was •"ran bj T Mr J. Chapman, jun.. and his father was next "nfter a very close competition. Mr Chapman,* sen., was awarded a special prize for. the most tractable team. A few fat, cittlo were shown, the best of. them being a cow svnd heifer belonging to Mr A. Chamberlain. , • DRAUGHT HORSES: There was an excellent, though not large, show of draught horses,, a number or them having been seen in other show rings this season. There was only one >orse shown in the entire class, Mr A. E. Maephorson's Dalmeny Forest and he was also first against Mr D. Miller's ; entry in the three-year-old class. In two-year-old colts Mr James Wyllie was first and socond with two sons of Baron-Everest, and in yearling colts or geldings-Mir G. Rennie won, Mr .7. Boag, jun..' being siiccessful in yearling fillies. Mr Jas: Wyllie also won m invo-year-old fillies and. Mr R. Raines was first and second in three-vear-old. Mrs A. McLachlan and Messrs T. Carter and J 1 • Davis were successful in the pelding classes. Tho irmre3 classes, provided f.nir competition. In dry .mares the Hon. R. H. Hhodes's Baroness Ruby Avon from G. H., Barnett's Jewel and five others, and in brood mares Messrs R. and W. Gillandefs's Royal Ruby, the Courtenay champion, was successful, Mr R. W. Rainey's Maude .being second. The pair, three-horse and four-horse teams, ■were all, won by Mr R.. Rainey, Mr R. Wl Lochhead being socond in each case, and both breeders were represented by a splendid lot of mares. Stanbury, pack-horse. , LIGHT HORSES, The light horse classes were mostly well filled, but only in a few cases was the competition very close. Mr J. E. Dawson was first in hackney entires, and he also won in the class for entire most suitable for producing wcighjfccarrying hacks or hunters. In young stock the winners were Messrs T. Thompson, J.- F. Buchanan, and L. Priest, and iv brood mares, Mr A. H. Clarke. The 11-stone hack class was won by Mx B. C. Rutherford with Ranm, Mr L. Matson's The Peach being second, and Mis 3 Clifford's Kilmeny very highly commended. Miss I. Rutherford's well-known mount. The Chief won in the 13-stone and lady's hack classes, Mr R. J. Fleming being second in.the former and Mr B C. Rutherford in the latter. Mr J. F. K.t Jamieson. was first in the 15-stone class, and Miss I. Rutherford's The I Chief was adiudged the best-mannered hack, Mr Goo. Rutherford's Robin being second in each of these classes. Mr S. D. Boyce's Banner won as a troop horse and as the mast suitable for mounted rifle work, and was second to Mt J. F. K. Jamieson's entry as a journey horse. Banner was selected by popular vo+» as best hack on. the ground. Mr, G. Bedford won tfie Miudon hack class, Mr R. J. Fleming being second. COBS AND PONTES. There was more competition in the cobs' and ponies' classes than in any other of the horse sections, and some very neat animals were shown. Mr 6. W. Smith's Sox was first anS Mr h. Matson's Red Mitt in cobs up to 15 hands. Ponies - for children . under 12 formed a very pretty cla.ss, Mr L. Matson's Reekie winning from Miss Iris -Montgomery's Rosy and five others. The class for ponies for children under 15 wf>s not such an even one,, and Mr L..Matson's Queenie won from Mr G. Remu'c's Princess and four others. 3J r X Ware's Ko-Ko was the winning -y>nv entire, and next to him come Mr G. Cooper's Merry King. There wos a lnrge claps of poiies not over 14.'2 hands, and Mr F 0 Stanbury's Tini and Mr J. Parkinson's Charley came first and second respectively, the "winner being a very neat animal. HARNESS HORSES. The harness horse classes were not very large, but there were a few good horses shewn notably two that distinguished themselves in the hackney classes, Mr J. F. K. Jamieson's entry, which won as a dog-cart horse from S. D. Boyce s Banner, which was first as a single buggy or gig horse. Other winners jn the section were Miss Coop, Daisy cart horse: T. G. Harper trotting horse; A. S. Webster, pair of buggr horses; and S. l>. Barclay, milkcart horse. COMPETITIONS. Mr A. F. Moore's pony, won as the best jumping pony, showing great jumping powers; Miss 31. Gray was the best girl rider, and Master Wyndham Watson ana H. .Messervey tied" as tho best boy riders. A horse of Miss L. Rutherford's won. the 15-stone bJunver class, 'Hγ B. C. Rutherford being second. The 13-stone hunter class went to Mr A. Ware, Mr Rutherford again being second, but the latter won the maiden event, with .Mr J. Riordan J. Hauler-1. Sow, under I', monthe (2): J. eoetiul.

PIGS AND DOGS.

There was a small but good show of pigs, Mr J. Hadley and the Hon. W. Montgomery being, the chief exhibitors and prize-winners. There was a small entry of dogs, Mr A. Murray winning in short-haired, Mr J. Kevnish in longhaired, and Mr E. G. Waugh in bearded , collies. In tho shepherds' turn-out, horse and dogs, Mr Lβ Compto won from two other competitors. FLOWERS. - There was a splendid show of flowers, especially roses, many of the blooms of which wore very fine. Messrs Nairn and Sons sent » fine collection of cut flowers for exhibition only. DOMESTIC ANT> FARM PRODUCE. There was, as usual, an excellent display of domestic produce, and close competition in most of the classes, and there were fair shows of potatoes, roots, and grain seeds.
