VISIT OF AMERICAN TEAM.

A meeting of tho Programme Committee in connexion with the visit of the American athletes to Canterbury ■wa3 held on Monday. Present: —Messrs C. S. McCuUy (in tho chair), O. Anderson, Putnuut, D. M. Robertson, Cox, Strachey, and Down. It- was decided to write to the City and Suburban Cricket Association asking them to postpone their cricket matches on December 13th. The hon. secretary advised having circularised all the delegates of the Canterbury Cricket Association asking them to do their utmost in postponing all matches on December 13th. The following is an extract from a letter received from tbe secretary of the N.Z.A.A.A. in reference to tho members of the American team: — "Templeton's inclusion makes a great difference, as he is probably one of the most attractive men at present in America. Ho will probably be available for the Hurdles, High, and Long Jumps or Pole Vault. Of course, he cannot be expected to take on too much in one afternoon. Power is best over the mile; does the half in considerably under two minutes, can do a fair two miles, best 9min 4Oscc. "Rosenberger can do a good 440; abont 49sec is his best. "Caughey will have a try at anything in the field events;, shot and hammer are his strong points. He is only a High School boy. The fact of his being so young is ot once an attraction, just as is the fact that his university tried everything possible to keep Templeton (who, it will be remembered, was smuggled on board the boat just ac it was sailing) from coming. They cvi« dently wanted him for some particular competition. It is no bad recommendation to be no much wanted by such an athletic stronghold as Stanford."

As ye sow, bo shall je reap, applies to Whisky as to every other thing in this world. It is cheaper to buy a •rood Whisky now, snch as "WHiTE HORSE" Whisky shipped by Mackie and Co. Distillers Ltd., than run risks after To save Gd a bottle on Whisky is false economy—better buy "WHITE HORSE" Whisky and insist on getting it than pay in ill-health in afterlife. 16
