CORRESPONDENCE.

TO CORRESPONDENTS. "For Peace."—Many thanks for your communication, which has been, noted and acted upon. STRIKE—AND OTHER. CONUNDRUMS. TO THE EDITOR OF "THE PKESS." Sir, —Here are several questions puzzling the brains of many of the working class, myself included. Will you tell mc why Sir Edward Carson, Lord Roberts, Lord Charles Beresford, and many other burning patriots of that ilk, wlio seem to have made patriotism pay handtomely, are ailowod to raise an army in Ulster, use Imperial officers to train that army, and threaten civil war in the "King's dominions if their wishes are not complied, with, and yet are not arrested? Is it because of their wealth and position? Will Bill Massey tell mc why Semnle and Co. were not arrested when they made their alleged seditions speeches? Is it because they would have beon tried by the Court then sitting, and probably freed by a jury to carry on the strike, while now they can foe kept out of the way till February? Will the Employers' Association tell mc why they so bitterly fought, years against the introduction of the Arbitration Act, and now so bitterly fight to retain it? Is it because isolated unions under that Act .are easier to smash than unions combined under the Federation? Will the farmers toll mc why, if they love the Act so much they recently refused to have an award under it covering their industry? Is it because they don't care a d for other people's rtnff *r> lonff as their own producer's handled? In conclusion I rnircht add. if the unions of this Dominion have one {train of manhood, courage, pnrl ttpjf. r°snpct left i™ them, they will finish the term* of their existing* awards like honourable men. and then cancel their reeV'-nHoo under the Ac+. . T have a Tsntful wnm in the bng, but will not tresnass further on your generosity.— Yours, etc., IHOGENES.
