ITEMS FROM WELLINGTON.
(SPECIAL TO "THE PRESS.") -WELLINGTON, November 24. The police raided a number of hotels in the city, and detected drinking in several, including two of tho principal houses. I. is understood that a few prominent business men were caught, and their names taken. The nearest open houses on Saturday wore at Petone, seven miles away, which did an enormous trade. There was a huge exodus from the city by train, gig, and motor, with all sorts of bags and vessels. The Mayor (Mr Luke)" says that, after careful enquiries, he has concluded that it will be unnecessary to continue the embargo on the hotels longer than Wednesday, as things aro rapidly returning to normal. Wholesale dealers had given very encouraging support.
